Kim Nguyen
Pronouns: She/Her
Kim’s work spans the areas of health, aging, long-term care, elder mistreatment, victimization, volunteerism, and health equity. She is currently leading a network adequacy assessment and data collection effort on patient experiences with their care for the Primary Care Coalition. She is also leading the development of a health equity assessment toolkit for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Office of Minority Health and serves as senior advisor for a community-engaged evaluation of the Minnesota Department of Human Services’ home and community-based services assessment process.
Previously, Kim was project director for the Administration for Community Living’s evaluation of five State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Programs, a person-centered consumer protection program that serves as an advocate for residents of long-term care facilities. She was also co-Principal Investigator of a National Institute of Justice grant that examined how six Chicago hospitals have been implementing hospital-based violence intervention programs or providing victim services to address the social factors that affect repeat victimization.
In addition to leading research and evaluation projects, Kim provides assistance to community-based organizations and researchers to support their own research and evaluation interests. Since 2013, she has supported evidence building projects for the Corporation for National and Community Service, where she provides evaluation training and technical assistance to AmeriCorps grantees. For over a decade, Kim has also provided management support for the NORC Data Enclave, a confidential environment that allows researchers to access microdata remotely.
Prior to joining NORC, Kim served as project director on the Aging, Stress and Health Study at the University of Maryland where her research focused on the social determinants of health outcomes and racial/ethnic and gender disparities over the life course, including caregiving, psychosocial resources, labor force characteristics, and retirement.
