Amy currently co-directs the Performance Improvement Management System (PIMS) for the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH). Since 2014, she has led PIMS in multiple roles to strengthen and institutionalize OMH efforts to ensure evaluation results and performance data guide program and policy decision-making to eliminate health disparities.
Recently at NORC, Amy managed the NORC Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis study for CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (2017-2021) conducting Formative Research Exploring the Challenges in Diagnosis and Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in Rural Areas, the results of which were published in The Journal of Rural Health and Rural and Remote Health.
Previously at NORC, Amy administered the HHS Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) TBI Technical Assistance Center at NORC (2009-2014) by supporting HRSA and its grant programs to improve service delivery, establish policy, and secure financial support for lasting systems change. She further assisted the HRSA Maternal and Child Health Bureau Division of Services for Children with Special Health Needs leadership to examine the landscape of federal agency activities related to TBI, increase communication among various TBI programs, and advance the mission of each organization engaged with TBI.
Prior to NORC, Amy supported the HRSA TBI Technical Assistance Center at the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) as Technical Assistance Liaison to grantees developing state infrastructure and sustainable systems of services and supports. While at NASHIA, she worked closely with the HRSA Contracting Officer Representative to identify emerging issues and trends to facilitate multifaceted technical assistance and product development.
Previously, Amy managed the Davidson County NC Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/Substance Abuse Services Community Alternative Program, and as Supported Living Program Manager she guided the Community Services Department at United Cerebral Palsy of Oregon and SW Washington. Amy began her early social work career in North Carolina as a Client Advocate for Guilford County Mental Health and as an Adolescent Counselor at Youth Focus Psychiatric Hospital.
